Granisetron hydrochloride blocks the action of a chemical called serotonin, which binds to certain nerves and may trigger nausea and vomiting. Blocking serotonin may help lessen nausea and vomiting. Granisetron hydrochloride is a type of antiemetic and a type of serotonin receptor antagonist.
