Use in Cancer
Ado-trastuzumab emtansine is approved to treat:
- Breast cancer that is HER2 positive and has already been treated with a taxane and trastuzumab. It is used:
- As adjuvant therapy in patients with early-stage breast cancer. It is used in these patients when invasive breast cancer is found in the tissue removed during surgery.
- In patients with metastatic breast cancer. It is also used in these patients if the cancer recurs (comes back) after adjuvant therapy.
Ado-trastuzumab emtansine is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
